ALYVE - The nutrition platform, delivering all-in-one personalised vitamins

Welcome to NEXUS Startup Diaries, the number one place to discover the hottest and most inspiring startups and founders.

Today we're excited to meet Sam Alyve of Alyve Wellness

So Sam, tell us more about Alyve Wellness

We are a DTC personalised nutrition platform, delivering all-in-one personalised vitamins via subscription - UK (both) - Health & Wellness

How did you come up with the business idea and what problem are you looking to solve?

The idea was founded after my own experience with the nutrition industry after being diagnosed with ADHD. There's too much noise and not enough trust or transparency.

Finding the right nutrition I needed was drastically more difficult and inconvenient than it had to be. Alyve now commits to providing therapeutic nutrition as conveniently as possible.

What made you want to start your own business?

I have always had personal projects or side ventures since I was 12, starting with finding clutter in the attic to sell on eBay. I've set up multiple in-person and online businesses, ranging from mobile cocktail bars to online furniture stores.

However, Alyve is my first 'forever' business. By nature I love to build things, and business is my uncapped creative outlet. It's fortunate I build on problems I experience, rather than researching & seeking gaps in the market.

What stage is your business currently at?

We're finally profitable which is a huge milestone for us, being non VC funded and having complex operational needs. Our next priorities is capitalising on the momentum we've built solidifying us as the modern day multivitamin replacement.

What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?

The full ownership. While many turn back at the first hurdle, or the 50th - the resilience it builds in you is unmatched. It's not for the feint hearted, but the skills I've had to learn and adapt - me now vs me 5 years ago are day and night.

What is the number one business tip you've learned that you'd like to share with fellow budding entrepreneurs?

Never take the short cut. Shortcuts are romanticised as a business cheatcode. I can tell you every cost/time I've saved through a perceived 'shortcut' I have paid back in 10x more later down the line in interest. Always just bite the bullet and do it the right way the first time.

Who are your startup heroes?

Ben Francis - a first time founder with no funding until recent years, and built a industry reshaping brand against billion pound multinationals through just unshakeable belief & determination.

Is there a favourite podcast, book or series you'd like to share with the world?

Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson. A more mainstream one, but some of the brains he has provide a super holistic approach to entrepreneurialism. Especially as half the battle is just mindset.

Anything else you'd like to share?

One last thing—my belief is that almost any business model can work. If, in the early stages, you receive any form of positive feedback, you’re onto something.

Your job is to keep iterating and adapting based on that feedback. Success often looks very different from your original concept, but that’s the trade-off for growth. Test relentlessly, fail fast, analyse the data, and refine your approach. The quicker you move through this cycle, the sooner you’ll land on your breakthrough product.
