Welcome to NEXUS Startup Diaries, the number one place to discover the hottest and most inspiring startups and founders.
Today we're excited to meet Omer Ozkan of Enbiosis Biotechnology
So Omer, tell us more about Enbiosis Biotechnology
Enbiosis is a biotechnology company specializing in biological engineering to revolutionize precision nutrition through AI-driven microbiome analysis.
Our proprietary technology deciphers the intricate relationship between gut microbiota and human health, enabling personalized dietary solutions that enhance well-being and optimize metabolic, digestive, and immune health.
Headquartered in the UK, we serve businesses across the health, food, and FMCG industries, providing them with data-driven insights and innovative solutions for functional food development, personalized nutrition, and healthcare applications.
Our AI-powered platform helps companies integrate microbiome-based personalization into their products and services, driving the future of precision health and functional food innovation.
By combining biological engineering, AI, and microbiome science, Enbiosis is pioneering the next generation of personalized nutrition and health solutions.

How did you come up with the business idea and what problem are you looking to solve?
The idea for Enbiosis emerged from academic studies showing that the microbiome plays a crucial role in human health—people who are sick and those who are healthy have distinctly different microbiomes.
We also knew that fecal transplants had shown success in treating various diseases by altering gut bacteria, but their clinical application posed significant risks. We wanted to find a safer, more practical alternative to fecal transplants by leveraging the relationship between nutrition and gut bacteria.
Instead of clinical transplantation, we developed an AI-driven methodology to achieve the same goal: changing the microbiome through precision nutrition. We believe that microbiome modulation can address 99% of diseases and even reverse aspects of aging.
Our mission is to develop science-backed solutions for microbiome-related diseases and contribute to extending human healthspan and longevity.
What made you want to start your own business?
I like being an early mover and one of the first to test new ideas. Before Enbiosis, I had my own business in renewable energy, where I initiated niche solar projects.
Over time, I found it less challenging and decided to exit the energy sector in search of something more complex and impactful. That’s how I came across Enbiosis and the potential of microbiome science, which presented an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of health and technology.

What stage is your business currently at?
We’re currently in the scale-up stage, with established partnerships spanning over 20 countries.
Our priority at this juncture is twofold: to continue rapidly expanding our global footprint and to reach millions of individuals—particularly those with chronic conditions—who can benefit from our personalized microbiome solutions.
By scaling our technology and forging strategic alliances, we aim to make gut health optimization a cornerstone of preventive care on a worldwide level.
What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
What I love most about being an entrepreneur is the challenge. Solving complex problems, adapting to uncertainty, and pushing boundaries keep me engaged. I enjoy taking risks, thinking ahead, and building something meaningful from the ground up.
What is the number one business tip you've learned that you'd like to share with fellow budding entrepreneurs?
If you want a revolution, you need resilience. Leading change is difficult, and the path is full of obstacles. But if you truly see yourself as an entrepreneur, you have to accept that this is your destiny—pushing forward despite the challenges is part of the journey.

Who are your startup heroes?
Elon Musk, because he didn’t just build a business—he bet on a future he believed in and did everything he could to make it a reality. His ability to take risks, challenge the status quo, and push humanity forward is what truly sets him apart.
Is there a favourite podcast, book or series you'd like to share with the world?
One of my top recommendations is “I Contain Multitudes” by Ed Yong. Even though it’s not strictly a business book, it offers a fascinating deep dive into the microscopic world that shapes all life on Earth.
For anyone building a health-focused startup—especially in microbiome science—it’s a powerful reminder that revolutionary ideas can spring from the tiniest details. Reading it helps you see the potential in fields that others might overlook, and that mindset is invaluable for any entrepreneur.
Anything else you'd like to share?
There is always hope, even when things get darker. Enbiosis represents that hope—hope for a healthier life and, as a result, a happier one. We are working for a better future, not just for ourselves but for the next generations as well
