So Narciso, tell us more about Quizzability
Quizzability is an online platform dedicated to transforming sustainability education through engaging, interactive tools.
We design dynamic quizzes and real-world case studies that provide individuals and organizations with practical knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our mission is to inspire action and empower users to drive meaningful, sustainable change. Based in Viseu, Portugal, Quizzability serves a diverse range of clients across Portugal, Spain, and Canada, including NGOs, universities, and corporations.
Operating at the intersection of education, sustainability, and technology, we cater to those institutions who are in need for accessible, impactful sustainability training.
We combine gamification with actionable insights to bridge the gap between awareness and implementation. We equip organizations with the right tools to take sustainability from a concept to a concrete reality.

How did you come up with the business idea and what problem are you looking to solve?
After spending over 15 years working in sustainability across corporate, academic, and NGO sectors, I observed a recurring problem: sustainability is widely discussed, but there is a significant gap in practical, actionable knowledge.
Many individuals and organizations remain unaware of how their everyday choices impact the planet or how to implement sustainable practices effectively. This realization was further reinforced during my PhD research, which focused on the 2017 Portuguese forest fires and highlighted the critical importance of education and community engagement in addressing sustainability challenges.
My findings underscored the need for accessible, engaging tools that demystify sustainability and empower people to take meaningful action.
What made you want to start your own business?
What made me want to start my own business was the drive to create something that could make a real difference in sustainability education.
After 15 years working across different sectors—corporate, education, and NGOs—I discovered a market potential for such a project. I saw an opportunity to leverage my experience and expertise to create a platform that would educate, train and inspire people to act on sustainability in a practical way.
This is the first startup I have created, but I have previously worked in another two startups and one scaleup. I also have a few side projects related to to reforestation and environmental conservation.

What stage is your business currently at?
We are now in the growth stage, having successfully developed and launched our platform for sustainability education. After establishing a presence in Portugal, Spain, and Canada, our focus is now on scaling the business and expanding our reach into new markets.
We are focusing on building partnerships with universities, NGOs, and companies. Basically, implementing a sales strategy. Service wise, we are continuously refining our platform to enhance user experience and impact.
As an entrepreneur/founder, my main priority at this stage is to expand our client base, further develop our educational content, and continue innovating to provide more accessible and engaging sustainability training. Also, strengthening our brand presence and raising awareness about the importance of sustainability education.
What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
I must say it is the opportunity to create something meaningful that can have a real impact. With Quizzability, I’m able to combine my passion for sustainability with my expertise in education and business.
It is incredibly rewarding to see the difference our platform makes, whether it's empowering individuals to take more sustainable actions or helping organizations drive change. Being an entrepreneur also means having the freedom to shape my own vision, make decisions that align with my values, and continuously innovate to solve problems.
There are incredible and always surprising challenges, but the ability to constantly learn and grow while contributing to something bigger is what makes me get up from bed every day!

What is the number one business tip you've learned that you'd like to share with fellow budding entrepreneurs?
The number one business tip I would share is "Patience pays." In the world of entrepreneurship, it’s easy to become impatient and expect quick results. However, building a successful business takes time.
From developing a strong foundation to gaining customer trust, every step is a gradual process. Early on, there are moments when progress is slow, but staying patient and resilient allowed us to refine our product, understand our audience better, and grow sustainably.
Trust the process, stay committed to your goals, and remember that success can take time. We build it over time through consistent effort, learning, and improvement. So, don’t rush (also, don’t get lazy or comfortable!); let things evolve at their own pace, and you’ll see the rewards in the long run.
Who are your startup heroes?
I honestly don’t have a single startup hero. Every entrepreneur operates within their unique context, facing distinct challenges and opportunities.
While I deeply respect the ingenuity and determination of many founders, I draw more inspiration from other fields. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo is a huge inspiration to me—not just for his talent, but for his unmatched work ethic, resilience, and commitment to continuous improvement.
That level of focus and dedication translates perfectly into the entrepreneurial mindset: striving to be better every day, regardless the odds.
Is there a favourite podcast, book or series you'd like to share with the world?
I tend to follow people, organizations, and programmes on social media rather than specific podcasts or websites. When it comes to books, I’m a total bookworm and could recommend hundreds—but mostly on topics outside of entrepreneurship.
Professionally, I immerse myself in academic articles that focus on management, sustainability, and education. They provide the depth and evidence-based insights that align with my work and passion. I think you can say I’m a bit of a nerd in that sense, but I find it incredibly rewarding!
Is there anything else you'd like to share with the world?
If there’s one thing I’d like to share, it’s about Quizzability and our purpose. There are many definitions out there, and people speak about it in different ways, but sustainability is not just about the environment—it’s about rethinking the way we live, work, and connect with one another.
It’s about people, equity, and creating systems that thrive in harmony with nature. I also believe in the power of small steps. Every decision we make—whether in business or life—can drive meaningful change.
It’s sometimes about small things: asking the right questions, sharing knowledge, and being willing to learn and grow. And lastly, a personal note: never underestimate the power of curiosity and patience. Both have shaped my journey and remind me that entrepreneurship is a process worth embracing.
